According the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), the population of Ports Stephens as at June 2003 is 61, 379 people (Note: This is the most recent population figure available from the ABS at the time of this publication). This represents a growth rate of 17.5% since the 1996 ABS Census. It is one of the most diverse and fastest growing communities in the Hunter Region attracting both families with children and older residents.
