201 Located in the Lovedale region of the Lower Hunter Valley, 201 is a small privately-owned vineyard with a vision of crafting an elegant range of boutique wines. When first established in the early 1990's under the label “Rothbury Ridge”, the original owners sought to create premium wines from grape varietals which were unique to the region, yet perfectly matched to the Hunter Valley climate. The result was small plantings of Chambourcin and Durif in 1994 and 1995 respectively. With new ownership in 2006 and a desire to stay true to it's regional identity, the current proprietors Barbara Smith and Geoff Schippers added new plantings of Semillon, a Hunter Valley staple, to the estate.

Calais Estate is a completely self-contained boutique winery that manages all aspects of the winemaking process, from the growing and harvesting of its own grapes through to the creation of its broad range of traditional wines and rare varietals. During vintage, the grapes are harvested and transferred to the Estate’s Winery where they are nurtured from juice to the bottle by Calais’ Winemaker, Adrian Sheridan.
Calais Estate was awarded the “Best Cellar Door” in the Hunter Business Awards five years in a row 2004 ,2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008.
